All Warm and Cozy

I do not wear this sweater often. It is rather unflattering on me. I usually only wear it to play in the snow with the boys. Or to shovel snow. Or some such snow-related activity. But I sure do love this sweater. In fact, it is one of my most cherished possessions. You see, my dear old dad used to own this sweater and I always thought he was rather dashing in it. I would sometimes borrow it and I don’t think I looked nearly so good. But still, I liked it. And then for my 18th birthday he wrapped it up and gave it to me. It was perfectly timed. I had just started college, was rather unsure of myself, and desperately needed something to make me feel at home and loved. This was it. Now whenever I pull it from my bottom drawer before heading out into the frosty wild (alright, so there was only an inch of snow on our suburban ground last time I wore the sweater), it’s always easy to conjure up that happy feeling of when Dad surprised me with a gift that I really needed. It may have looked so much better on my dad, but some days it seems to fit me just right.
